The Most Anticipated Family Movies Of 2021

There are few things more fun than a family movie night. Snuggling up on the couch together with a big bowl of sweets and watching a great film is one of our favourite activities! Whilst cinemas were closed throughout much of last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this hasn’t stopped some absolutely fantastic movies from being made. Whether your clan loves a magical fairy tale, action-packed animated blockbuster, or even a musical perfect for singing along to, you won’t be disappointed with the movies in store for 2021. Tom and Jerry

The Tom and Jerry movie follows Jerry taking up refuge in a posh hotel in New York City, which then goes and hires Tom to kill him before the wedding of the century arrives. Mayhem ensues as Tom tries desperately to get rid of Jerry, resulting in the classic T&J comedy that we all know and love! 

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run

When Gary, SpongeBob SquarePants’ pet snail goes missing, SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick journey to the city of Atlantis. King Poseidon is holding Gary captive and they must do all they can to get him back! This hilarious movie shows that there’s nothing stronger than the power of true friendship.

Raya and the Last Dragon

Many years ago, in the mythical world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together peacefully. However, harmony was destroyed when evil monsters called the Druun terrorised the land and the dragons surrendered themselves to save humanity. 500 years later, the monsters have returned, and it's up to a lone warrior called Raya to find the last dragon and stop the Druun once and for all. Disney’s first animated movie of the year is sure to be a corker!

Cruella 

Before she became Cruella de Vil, she was a teenager called Estrella. In 1970s London, young Estella dreams of becoming a fashion designer. She becomes obsessed with dogs' skins, especially Dalmatians. The movie shows her journey as she reinvents herself as the villain that we all love to hate. Cruella was originally scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 23, 2020, however, it was delayed until May due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Spirit Untamed

Does your little one love watching the adventures of Lucky Prescott and her wild stallion on Netflix? If so, this movie is for you. Lucky is a plucky 12-year-old with an independent streak who has befriended a wild mustang known as Spirit. Together with her best friends (and their horses), she attempts to stop a heartless horse wrangler from capturing her beloved Spirit and auctioning him off to the highest bidder. This much-anticipated family movie is sure to be packed with action and adventure. 

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

Due to come out in time for last Easter, Peter Rabbit 2 is running a little late! However, we’re sure the wait will be worth it. Peter becomes a runaway bunny when he ventures outside of the garden and to the big city. Chaos ensues for the whole family as they attempt to bring their bunny home. James Cordon shines as the voice of the title character.

Vivo 

Vivo tells the story of a capuchin monkey who journeys from Cuba to Miami to become a music star. With a thirst for adventure and a passion for music, he is determined to fulfil his dreams. This music-loving monkey is sure to steal your hearts! Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda penned a number of brand-new songs for this movie, so it’s sure to be a favourite with Broadway fans!

Minions: The Rise of Gru (pushed back to 2022)

The movie is set in the heart of the 1970s and tells the story of 12-year-old Gru. A fanboy of the supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru plans to become wicked enough to join them. However, rather than becoming their newest member, things don’t go to plan and suddenly finds himself as their mortal enemy. Gru ends up working together with the Minions, getting into plenty of scrapes along the way! Gather your own army of Minions Toys to prepare for the huge adventure, it's guaranteed to be a bumpy one! The Rise of Gru is the sequel to the prequel Minions (2015) and the fifth instalment overall in the Despicable Me franchise.  

Paw Patrol: The Movie

Considering the monumental success of Paw Patrol, it was only a matter of time before the pups hit the big screen. In this long-awaited movie, Chase and co. are called to Adventure City to stop the vile Mayer Humdinger from turning it into a state of chaos. Get ready for more action, more high-stakes missions and new pups and vehicles! Get stocked up on your little ones favourite characters with our wide range of Paw Patrol Toys, and get ready for the big premiere. Set to be released in August 2021, it’s the perfect summer holiday film selection. 
Movies may have been in short supply last year, but 2021 has plenty of treats in store for you. So, close the curtains, grab the snacks, and cosy up for some fantastic films that the whole family will enjoy.
